AI-assisted Workflow Designer
A new AI-powered chatbot assistant is now available within the Workflow Designer to help you create and manage automated workflows through natural conversation.
What it does
Discover and explore — Ask the assistant to list your existing workflows, inspect their full structure (steps, transitions, conditions, and actions), or browse available action types, condition rules, and template variables like {{patient.first_name}}.
Create workflows from a description — Describe what you want to automate in plain language (e.g. "I want referrals to go into triage, then to clinical review, then notify the patient when they're scheduled") and the assistant will propose a workflow structure, ask clarifying questions, and build it for you.
Modify existing workflows — Ask the assistant to update steps, transitions, actions, or conditions on any existing workflow. It will show you the current state first, then apply your changes.
How it works
- Describe what you want to automate.
- The assistant looks up available actions, conditions, and template variables.
- It proposes a workflow structure for your review.
- Once confirmed, the workflow is created inactive — activate it when you're ready.
The AI Workflow Designer is available from the Workflows settings page for users with organisation management permissions.
