Smarter Patient Matching, EMR Reconciliation, and a More Flexible Workspace

This update makes it faster to link the right patient in Practice Inbox, gives staff a dedicated place to resolve EMR directory mismatches, brings faxing back to Communications tabs, and lets several inspector panels move around the screen instead of locking you in place.

Faster, more accurate patient matching in Practice Inbox

When a new SMS or WhatsApp conversation comes in, Clinically now matches it against patient contact details more reliably, including local and international phone number formats.

If a contact detail matches more than one patient, staff are shown a Link Patient list — "Patients matching the sender's contact details — choose which one to link" — instead of the system silently linking the first match. From the same window, staff can also Search EMR and Import & Link a patient directly from the connected EMR if no existing match is found.

Conversations that get fully redirected into the Clinical Inbox are now automatically marked resolved, so they no longer sit in the queue waiting to be closed out manually.

A dedicated worklist for EMR directory mismatches

When directory sync with a connected EMR (such as Halaxy) can't confidently match a practitioner or organisation, that conflict is now recorded and surfaced on a new EMR Reconciliation worklist, rather than being retried silently in the background. Staff with the right permissions can review each conflict and resolve it directly from the worklist.

Fax from Organisation and Referrer Communications tabs

Faxing is back on the Communications tab for Organisations and Referrers. Compose a message as usual and send it as a fax — Clinically turns it into a proper letter for the fax to carry. After sending, a View faxed letter action on the message lets staff see exactly what was transmitted.

Move panels wherever you need them

Several inspector and editor panels across the app can now be dragged around the screen, resized, minimised, and kept open alongside your other work instead of locking you into a fixed modal. This is now available on:

  • The AI form designer
  • The patient clinical note editor (Documents tab)
  • Investigation orders
  • The appointment calendar slot finder
  • Medicare batch verification reports
  • Invoice history (in the invoice editor)
  • Workflow builder inspectors
  • Xestro import error details
  • HI Service request details
  • Referral and appointment document viewers
  • Resource scheduling booking workflows

A clearer patient details page

The patient details header now surfaces Book appointment and Message as quick actions (where available), sending forms to a tablet is now folded into the standard Send form flow, and appointment and referral history are shown with clearer, more consistent history rows.

Availability

These improvements apply across Clinically wherever the relevant feature is already enabled for your organisation — EMR Reconciliation appears only for practices with a connected EMR and the required permission, and fax requires GoFax or the built-in fax integration to be connected.
