Smarter Patient Search, Workflow Polish & Inbox Spam Detection

A roundup of refinements across the application — your patient searches now tolerate typos, the workflow designer got a workout, and the Practice Inbox learned how to spot spam.

Patient search no longer punishes you for a misspelled name or a transposed letter. We've added trigram indexes across patient records and switched search to relevance-ordered results.

  • Find patients despite typos — "Smyth" finds "Smith", "Jonh" finds "John", "MacDonald" finds "McDonald".
  • Best matches first — Results are now ordered by how closely they match your query, not just alphabetically.
  • Faster on large databases — New indexes mean searches stay fast even as your patient list grows.

This applies everywhere patient search appears — global search, the patient lookup, the appointment booking screen, and document processing.

Workflow designer improvements

The workflow designer received a round of usability and capability upgrades:

  • Reassign to Triage — A new workflow action that sends a referral back to the triage worklist, useful when intake needs to re-route a case mid-workflow.
  • Fullscreen editor — Toggle the workflow editor to fullscreen for a clearer view of complex workflows with many steps and transitions.
  • Transition priorities — When multiple transitions could fire from a step, you can now set explicit priorities and see them as badges on the canvas. Higher-priority transitions are evaluated first.
  • Cleaner condition editing — Adding and editing conditions on transitions is more intuitive, and the initial step indicator stays in sync as you reshape the workflow.
  • Tighter transition flyout — The transition editing panel no longer sprawls across the screen on wide displays.

Practice Inbox: spam detection

Junk doesn't belong in the inbox. We've added content-based spam detection that automatically routes likely spam to a dedicated Spam folder.

  • Automatic detection — Inbound emails are scored on content and routed to Spam when they look like junk.
  • Spam folder — A dedicated folder keeps spam out of the way but available for review.
  • Bulk actions — Mark multiple conversations as spam (or restore from spam) in one click.

Form branding refinements

The patient and staff form branding settings got more expressive:

  • Choose corner styles (square, rounded, pill).
  • A new dark preset for practices with a darker brand palette.
  • A contrast warning flags colour combinations that may be hard to read.
  • Branding now applies to the public form page itself, not just the form card — for a consistent end-to-end look.

Plus

Smaller fixes worth noting: the Copy to Xestro action now correctly maps middle names instead of placing them in Known Name; Practice Inbox emails now include attachments when forwarded; and several Alpine errors and assorted bugs from our scanning tools have been squashed.
